Our Story

Dedicated to
wine making
since 1980

Viña Falernia was founded in 1998 when Aldo Olivier Gramola recognized the extraordinary potential of the Elqui Valley—a semi-arid land considered too extreme for fine wine at the time.

What began as a bold experiment soon became a pioneering project. By combining deep agricultural knowledge, modern technology, and respect for nature, Falernia transformed desert terrain into thriving vineyards capable of producing world-class wines.

Today, Falernia stands as Chile’s northernmost winery estate, proudly redefining what is possible in high-altitude, desert viticulture.

John Doe

The Olivier family story begins far from Chile, in the alpine village of Dimaro, Trentino, Italy. In 1951, seeking new opportunities, the family immigrated to Chile and settled in the Coquimbo region.

From cultivating vegetables to producing Chile’s national spirit, Pisco, Aldo Olivier built a deep connection to farming and fermentation long before Falernia was born. That legacy evolved into winemaking when he partnered with his cousin, Giorgio Flessati, an Italian oenologist, bringing together Old World knowledge and New World ambition.

The result is a winery guided by family values, patience, and an unwavering pursuit of quality.

The Family

Our Boots on the ground

Behind every bottle is a hands-on team deeply connected to the vineyards and the valley.

Our people live and work in the Elqui Valley, nurturing each vine with care, harvesting by hand, and ensuring every step of the process reflects our standards. From vineyard to cellar, Falernia wines are shaped by experience, intuition, and respect for the land.
